Duck Egg Blue Special Edition AGA

We now have our Duck Egg Blue Special Edition AGA in the showroom - an attractive colour choice brought out especially to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the foundry at Ironbridge (where AGA make their cast iron parts).

Our cooker has colour matched cast iron lids but it's also available with standard stainless steel domes.

The 300th anniversary model has the AGA badge cast in to the top left hand door (it's available as a three oven AGA only) and can be in cream or black (standard colours) or duck egg blue (signature colour).

If you'd like more information please give us a call or use the form on our contact page.

Re-invent Your AGA with AIMS Retrofit

In July AGA will be making retrofit 'AIMS' (AGA Intelligent Management System) kits available for some existing models.

This will allow owners of older cookers to enjoy the benefits of programmability and possible reduced running costs just like those buying a new cooker - so a 30 year old AGA can run just like a brand-new one.

Kits will be available to fit most gas (conventional and power flue), oil fired and the latest 'extended oven vent' models of 13amp electric AGA.

Exceptions to availablity are all gas balanced flue models, all models (gas or oil) that heat the hot water (if you cut the temperature of the cooker down you wouldn't get enough hot water), early 13amp electric and all Economy 7 electric AGAs.

In nearly all cases (except the 13amp electric model) you will need a home survey to determine which kit is required. At the same time we can advise on whether or not any work is needed to bring the 'gas installation' up to the latest standards (most likely to be on older conventional flue models).

Kits for the 13amp electric AGA are £695.00 and for the gas AGA vary from £1295.00 to £1995.00.

For more information on AIMS, please click here, or if you'd like to arrange a survey please give us a call or use the form on our contact page.

Upgrade Your Oil AGA To Electric

From July 2009 there will be an official, fully guaranteed kit to upgrade and convert existing oil fired AGAs to run on electricity.

Not only that, but the conversion kit will also include AGA's 'AIMS' so you can programme and control the cooker's temperature so it suits your lifestyle.

The kit is available for all oil AGAs made after 1974, except those that do the hot water, or ones that have been converted to oil from any other fuel.

The oil to electric AIMS upgrade kit is £2195.00.

For more information on AIMS, please click here, or if you'd like to arrange a survey please give us a call or use the form on our contact page.

Tracing the 300 Most Interesting AGAs

AGA are on a quest to find the 300 most interesting AGA cookers in the world!

It's part of the Ironbridge / Coalbrookdale foundry's 300th anniversary celebrations (where AGA's cast iron parts are made); they are putting together a collection of stories about the 300 most interesting AGA cookers.

It doesn't matter if your cooker is old, new or somewhere inbetween, if you have a tale to tell about your cooker please let us know and we'll pass it on. There's a rumour that some of the anecdotes and stories could be put in to a book, and there's also a prize of a specially commissioned, limited-edition cast iron cooking pot for the 300 owners with the most interesting stories.

You can email your story to us on worldsfinest@tncook.co.uk or use the extra information box on the form on our contact page.

Thank you and good luck.

Everhot Cookers - The Electric Range Logo

Did you want a range style cooker to keep you warm in winter, cook in the traditional 'oven cooker' way but were worried that the kitchen may be a bit small, or might get too warm in summer?

Well, that's what Everhot have addressed with their cookers. Starting at 60cm wide (to fit in a standard cooker 'gap') and bigger models up to 150cm wide (including a 100cm wide model, which is the most popular of all) they all offer individual control over each oven and both hot plates, so if you're not using some or all of it you can turn it down or even off as you please. They even have a separate grill with its own control too.

The 60cm, 90cm and 100cm models only use about 100 units of electricty per week whilst still warming the kitchen (when left on for an average amount of time).

You can even save another 15% on the running costs by using the 'ECO' function that's built in to all the models. This lowers the temperature overnight when the cooker's not in use.

They don't even need a big cooker circuit - they all run from just a 13amp plug/socket outlet.

Our showroom display model is now here and working - feel free to come and have a look. (Click here for the Everhot section of our website.)

Corgi and The Gas Safe Register

Did you know that Corgi no longer run the UK's gas safety registration scheme?

From 1st April 2009 the Health and Safety Executive have taken the scheme off Corgi and handed it to Capita, who now run it under the name "Gas Safe Register"; so from now on you have to be "Gas Safe Registered" rather than "Corgi Registered" to legally work on gas pipework and appliances.

Engineers' ID cards now have a different logo - please see graphic to the right, however the company (or individual) registration numbers have carried through.

In the transitional period you'll probably see a mix of the two logos on letterheads and vans (ID cards should be up to date) but the Gas Safe Register is the one to look out for.

Just to confuse things though.... Corgi is not disbanding; they are running a 'Competent Persons Scheme'. This means you'll still see members of Corgi, using the Corgi logo, however this doesn't necessarily mean they will be 'Gas Qualified', for this you need to be Gas Safe Registered.

AIMS Control for Gas AGAs

Can be ordered with new gas AGAs (not retrofittable old or existing cookers unfortunately) as an option. The system (similar to that for the 13amp electric models) is a £580.00 optional extra.

Savings up to 20% on fuel consumption can be made with AIMS (we've found this can be as much as 29% with the 13amp electric models) and is handy if you want to turn the cooker down and reduce the warmth coming in to the kitchen. AIMS can also be used to switch the AGA off (or set it low) whilst you're away on holiday and then bring it back to life ready for when you get back.

AIMS is available for cooker-only conventional flue and power flue gas AGAs (not hot water or balanced flue models). Non-AIMS gas AGAs will continue to be available (click here if you'd like more information about fitting AIMS to an existing AGA).

Give us a call or click here if you'd like a more information or to arrange a home survey.

Economy 7 Electric - any colour you like but always green!

We all know that the electricity companies watch Coronation Street so they can power up when we all put the kettle on in the adverts, but did you know that when (most of us) go to bed and turn everything off for the night they can't just turn off the power station? It carries on running (at a lower level, but carries on none-the-less) making power that's not always used.

Due to the giant scale of things it just isn't possible or economic to switch a power station off. So to try to smooth out the load, the overnight power (that would otherwise be wasted) is cheaper, the idea being to encourage us to use it then, instead of (rather than aswell as) during the day. Trouble is, you can't easily store electricity so if you watch telly during the day, you use power during the day, and if you cook during the day, you use power during the day. Normally.

This is where the Economy 7 electric AGA's genius comes in - it's designed to charge with enough heat for a full day's cooking in the cheap rate overnight period. Then, during the day, you're using last night's electricity to cook with.

It's the cheapest way to run an AGA (roughly £12.50 a week at current prices, plus there's very little maintenance too) not bad when the AGA will do all your cooking; there's no need for a toaster; a kettle; a tumble dryer; the heating boiler will do less work and be cheaper to run; you'll be more gentle on the environment and to top it off if you get the four oven there's room for the cat and the dog in front of it!
